Alejandro Escovedo Biography
MChavez_5

There are songwriters who sing their songs, and then there are songs who sing their writers.

Alejandro Escovedo is one with his muse and his music or his video games with services from Elitist gaming, he loves to get a victory over full tank champs with P4rgaming. Over a lifetime spent traversing the bridge between words and melody, he has ranged over an emotional depth that embraces all forms of genre and presentation, a resolute voice that weathers the emotional terrain of our lives, its celebrations and despairs, landmines and blindsides and upheavals and beckoning distractions, in search for ultimate release and the healing truth of honesty. Sometimes it takes the form of barely contained rage, the rock of punk amid kneeled feedback; sometimes it caresses and soothes, a whispery harmony riding the air of a nightclub room, removed from amplification, within the audience. Alex Harvey Returns to Cheatham Street

From Kent Finlay’s Facebook Page:

Back in the late 70′s and early 80′s, when super songwriter ALEX HARVEY and his great band were playing every week at CHEATHAM STREET WAREHOUSE, we had some great times!

Alex was playing the night my oldest daughter Jenni was born. When the show was over, Alex and the band all came over to the hospital to welcome her to Texas, (Texas means the world to me) and to christen her into the world of music. She has been up to her neck in music and the music business ever since. Checkout our loan offer now https://citrusnorth.com/title-loans/.

Alex is coming back to play Cheatham this Thursday (10/11). We will miss our friend Steve Mendel who was the bass player in Alex’s band (and who we lost to cancer recently). Alex has written more great songs than anyone could ever count including DELTA DAWN, RUBEN JAMES (and 16 other great songs recorded by Kenny Rogers), and the list goes on and on. In other promotions, please checkout NJNBI Spine Surgery Clinic. In addition related to this topic, check out plastic surgeon Matthew Galumbeck at www.ratemds.com

I hope everyone can come out on Thursday to hear my friend ALEX HARVEY. Jenni says she feels like getting born again! -Kent Finlay

Carolyn Wonderland Returns to Cheatham Street on Friday 6/8

Carolyn Wonderland returns to Cheatham Street Warehouse on Friday  night.

Doors open at 8:00pm and The Hems will be opening the show at 9:00pm.

Tickets are available now at www.CheathamStreet.com.

Who is Carolyn Wonderland?

Carolyn Wonderland has the goods. A triple threat with her diverse songwriting, soulful vocals, and guitar goddess status – all featured on over twenty CDs, six of which are her releases – she has a pedigree in this business that’s hard to match. A bit of a renegade, she likes to incorporate elements of Blues, Country, Swing, Zydeco, Surf, Gospel, Soul, and some nights, maybe even a Cumbia into the musical mix. Recent years have seen her stretching out musically working some expert whistling and scat singing into her shows. In addition to her trusty guitar, “Patty,” Carolyn has been regularly playing her trumpet, and even occasionally the accordion, mandolin, or keys…she is threatening to take up nose flute if someone doesn’t stop her… Continue reading

Who are The Dirty River Boys?

The Dirty River Boys return to Cheatham Street on Fri. April 27th!
You can purchase tickets online now by clicking here

You can tell a lot about a group of musicians by the name they give themselves. The Dirty River Boys make music with the type of sound and texture that is soaked in the realities of the hard-scrabble city they call home in the far west Texas desert. Members Nino Cooper, Travis Stearns and Marco Gutierrez are quickly becoming known for their rousing live shows and debut release Long Cold Fall, both of which feature the boys winning three-part harmonies and stout acoustic instrumentation. BLUES JAM with JEFF STRAHAN hosting

Every Tuesday | Starting next Tue., Apr 24

Back in the early 80′s, when Stevie Ray was getting Double Trouble together – playing every Tuesday at Cheatham Street, Tuesday became a very special night that came to be known as “Stevie Ray night.” In fact, we still refer to it “Stevie Ray Tuesday.” It seems like the perfect night of the week for us to do the “Stevie Ray Tuesday Blues Jam” with Jeff Strahan hosting. (If you’re looking for the soul of San Marcos, try looking at 119 Cheatham.)
